The Empire Zone Program in New York
The Empire Zone program was developed by the State of New York to promote the creation of jobs, increase tax base of property and encourage investment in the business and properties. Southwest Brooklyn, was established in 1994 in a participating community in the State of New York Empire Zone Program. An Empire Zone location offers financial and tax incentives for new or expanding businesses. This can mean significant savings for companies and investors through a variety of resources and opportunities for companies to explore the initiation or expansion projects.
As the New York Empire Zone was established, Southwest Brooklyn started offering expanding businesses located in the area the most complete package of business incentives in the State of New York. New businesses that locate or expand in the area, or the increase in employment may be eligible for the zero tax liability of the State of New York.
